A KNIFE-wielding robber stole the contents of a till after threatening a woman at an Abingdon service station.

The raider, his face hidden with a red scarf, entered the Esso garage, in Drayton Road, about 9.45pm on Wednesday.

He produced a knife and told the woman behind the till to "give me the money".

The terrified assistant handed over the takings and the robber ran towards Ock Street. The woman was unhurt.

The raider is described as between 17 and 20 years of age, about 5ft 9in tall, of medium build. He was wearing dark jeans and a dark anorak with the hood pulled up over his head.

Detectives are anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen the man in the area. loitering in the area before the robbery or fleeing the scene afterwards.

There were no customers in the garage at the time of the robbery, but officers feel he may have been waiting in the area while waiting for customers to leave.

Anyone with information should call Abingdon CID on 01235 776642.
