Bicester Community College has scooped a place in a shortlist of most- improved specialist schools.
The comprehensive, in Queen's Avenue, is now a member of the most-improved schools club of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.
The college's entry is because the number of pupils getting five or more A*-C grades at GCSE has risen from 40 per cent in 2002 to 50 per cent last year.
The school has specialist technology status.
Headteacher Cynthia Bartlett praised the hard work of staff and students. She said: "We have run a lot of revision sessions -- some after school and during the holidays. We have been a great believer in helping the students work at their own pace.
"Staff and students deserve to be congratulated for their efforts. We have a number of fast-track groups now, and all our current Year Seven students should achieve at least one GCSE by the end of Year Nine. These courses, taken early, help to make students confident and show them what can be achieved."
