Two people were arrested in Witney on suspicion of burglary in connection with a series of Oxford break-ins.

Police said the two, a 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were arrested at an address in Witney last Friday and have been bailed to appear back at St Aldates police station on May 25.

A police spokesman said the arrests were in relation to two burglaries and an attempted break-in in North Oxford.

The first of these was at an address in Park Town at about 9.45pm on April 16. Burglars smashed a window at the property, but no entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

The second break-in was at an address in Winchester Road at about 10pm on the April 16, where burglars stole a laptop, a camera and about $200.

The third burglary was at a property in Farndon Road some time between 9.30pm and 11.30pm on April 17, where burglars forced their way into the house and stole car keys and a Mazda 323 from the driveway of the property.
