Thieves stole a digger from Marlborough School, Woodstock, and drove it over playing fields and pitches, causing £500 worth of damage.
The small digger was stolen at about 10.30pm on Saturday and driven around the Shipton Road school’s playing field, causing damage to the football pitch, goal posts and nets.
The digger was then dumped in a nearby hedge.
Pc James Challender said: “This sort of mindless vandalism is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
