Oxford United players today took drinks out to fans queueing at the Kassam Stadium for tickets for Thursday night’s big match.

United face Rushden & Diamonds at Nene Park, with the second leg set to take place on Bank Holiday Monday at the Kassam Stadium.

A line snaked around the outside of the stadium as season ticket holders made sure of their spot at the game.

The winners will qualify for the play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, May 16.

At one stage, the players came out with tea and coffee.

The remaining tickets were expected to go on sale to the public at 9.30am tomorrow.

The club is warning fans the ticket office and telephone hotline will both be “extremely busy” tomorrow.

Club spokesman Chris Williams said: “It has been extremely busy all day with people queueing from 6am.”
