Helicopter trips, pony rides and cars and bikes from a record number of dealers will be among the attractions at Sunday's Oxford Mail Motor Show.

Seventeen dealerships are revving up to take part in the family fun day in Cutteslowe Park, North Oxford, on Sunday, June 27, which will see the latest models on display from Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, Honda, Volkswagen and Renault.

Up to 5,000 people are expected to enjoy the free event, which is now in its 18th year.

Lyn Moloney, marketing manager at Ridgeway VW, Audi and Skoda in Kidlington, said her dealership would have 20 cars on display.

She said: “Families really do enjoy this show because there is something there for everyone.

“This is a local show we feel quite passionate about, and we need to be there as a local dealer as it’s an opportunity to get out our showroom and show the whole community our cars.

“There will also be some interesting and fun cars on show from us, as usual.”

The star attraction will be the cars, both new and old – such as those on display from the Cotswold Ferrari Owners Club.

But there is other entertainment too to keep the whole family occupied.

Visitors can pay to take to the skies in a Bell LongRanger helicopter and enjoy panoramic views of the city of dreaming spires from 1,000ft up.

There will also be pony rides, fairground rides, quad bike races and the Oxford Mail bouncy castle for children to enjoy.

Newsquest Oxfordshire exhibition manager Rachel Legg said: “The motor show is a great day out and this is the biggest number of motor dealers we have had on offer to date.

“Cutteslowe Park will not only become the largest new car showroom in Oxfordshire for the day, but the show is also a fantastic family fun event.”

It runs between 10am and 4pm.

Programmes cost £1 – with money raised going to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford.
