CONTROVERSIAL redevelopment plans for Oxford’s ageing Temple Cowley Pools complex will be unveiled at a public meeting this month, before a final decision on its future is made in September.
Three multi-million pound options for new swimming facilities in the south of the city will be outlined, along with the results of a feasibility study and appraisal of each scheme.
The future of Temple Cowley Pools, in Temple Road, was set to be decided last month, after four years of speculation, proposals and public campaigns to keep the building open.
But Oxford City Council delayed the release of its report on the redevelopment options to allow changing economic factors, including costs and affordability, to be clarified.
The council has said the current pool is too expensive to run due to its age and condition.
Three options will now be presented at a special public meeting at Oxford Town Hall, on Tuesday, August 17, at 7pm.
The decision on the pool’s future will have to be ratified by full council.
