CHILDREN created beautiful jewellery thanks to an Oxford student’s gem of an idea.
Designer Astrid Woollard is hosting a series of children’s jewellery workshops at South Oxford Community Centre in Lake Street during the summer holidays.
The 27-year-old plant sciences student at St Catherine’s College sells her individual designs at gift and craft fairs around the county and through her website.
She decided to launch Saturday and Sunday children’s jewellery workshops, to inspire children to explore their creativity.
On Sunday, children made earings, necklaces, bracelets and phone and bag charms.
Vienna-born Ms Woollard said: “I’m a very creative person and I want to create things.
“The children can take their own jewellery with them, it’s their own piece of work and some of them will be really proud of their first piece in a few years.
“I hope I can encourage children to try jewellery-making and just explore their own creativity.”
