FOR children wanting to clown around this summer, the return of Millets Farm Centre’s award-winning Maize Maze, right, is a must.
The garden centre complex, at Frilford, near Abingdon, was the first place in the UK to cut a maze into one of its maize fields in 1997 and, 13 years on, the summer attraction is still going strong.
This year, six different mazes, all themed around clowns, are on offer.
Cut into a crop of 6ft-high maize are the faces of two clowns, complete with bald heads, round noses, bow ties and flower buttonhole.
Smaller mazes for younger children offer more fun and, on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, real clowns may be hiding round every corner of the maze to jump out on unsuspecting visitors.
The maize maze is open seven days a week until September 5, after which it opens on weekends.
