Sir – Chris Koenig’s evocation of old-style Oxford shopping (Weekend, August 5) was a delight.
But he failed to explain a major mystery. Why was it that half the tables in Elliston’s cafe were always “Reserved for staff teas” — yet these tables were never occupied?
