Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a supermarket in Bloxham.

A man entered into the Co-op store in High Street wearing a Scream-style Halloween mask and armed with a gun and rounded up staff and customers in the store.

The robber then instructed one of the employees to empty the contents of the safe into a bag and left the store.

The robbery happened at about 9.45pm on Sunday but details were only released this afternoon.

Det Con Lee Newman said: “Thankfully no one was hurt during the robbery, but many of the staff and customers in the store at the time were left shaken by the incident.

“I would like to hear from anyone who might have seen a man acting suspiciously in the Bloxham area at the time of the robbery, or anyone who may have seen the robber leaving the store and seen where he went.

“I would also urge residents to call the police if they should ever see anything suspicious. We would rather be called out to a false alarm, than not attend a serious incident.”

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Det Con Newman via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
