I HAVE just spent a long weekend in Oxford where I lived for 50 years. I left in May last year to live in Seaton, Devon.

I am afraid that Oxford is now typical of what Britain is turning into and what most British people are complaining about. It was just like being in a foreign country and I experienced rudeness and disrespect from these people who have chosen to settle here.

This situation is going to escalate as long as we remain in the European Union and more countries are given freedom to move into our country.

I am so pleased I moved to Devon, because as yet we are not overrun by foreign-speaking people with whom we cannot communicate.

It is a sorry state of affairs that a beautiful city like Oxford has deteriorated so badly in status and I am sure many more cities in Britain have suffered in the same way.

I just fear for future generations as there is no doubt it’s all out of control.
