Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a chemical engineering factory in Bicester last night.

Officers were called to the factory in Wedgewood Road at about 9pm, after being alerted by an alarm monitoring company.

Police said the burglars had forced their way into the premise through a roll-down shutter door and stole about five kilos of nickel rods.

Sgt Kev Tobin, of Bicester police station, said: “During the burglary, the offenders removed the lids from several tanks and containers containing hazardous chemicals.

"We are concerned they may have suffered chemical burns or an adverse reaction from inhaling the fumes. I would urge them to seek hospital advice immediately.

“I am also appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time or has any information about the burglary to contact Thames Valley Police.”

Anyone with any information should contact Sgt Tobin via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to the police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
