Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Oxford.

The assault happened as a 22-year-old woman walked along Southfield Road at about 9.30pm on Friday.

As the woman walked along the road, a dark-coloured Audi convertible pulled up alongside her and a man got out of the car and approached her.

The man told the woman that he knew her and then proceeded to hug her tightly before threatening her.

The man is described as Asian, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in, stocky build, with short cropped hair and a goat tallee-style beard. He was wearing a beige-coloured fleece.

PC Richard Clements said: “Thankfully the woman didn’t sustain any injuries in this incident, but was distressed by what happened.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time who saw anything to come forward and speak with us as soon as possible.

“Or if you recognise the description of the man or the car, then we would ask that you get in touch.”
