A WITNEY watering hole has been named West Oxfordshire Town and Village Pub of the Year for the second year in a row.
The Eagle Tavern, in Corn Street, won the top award from the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) ahead of about 150 others.
Landlord Annette Hegerty, who runs the pub with partner Ian Payne, said they were “thrilled to bits”.
She said: “To win two years in a row is something that never happens – we’re just a little boozer.”
She put the win down to “a lot of hard work over the years and the fact we love our pub”.
Neil Hoggarth, chairman of Oxford CAMRA, which covers West Oxfordshire, said: “The award recognises quality of the beer, but it’s also about the wider pub experience – what the atmosphere is like and whether it’s good value for money.”
