A DOCTOR claimed he “knew everything” and declined an induction at accident and emergency department of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford before misdiagnosing a patient’s condition, a hearing in London was told today.

Dr Doraipondian Benjamin, who was hired via an agency, is said to have misdiagnosed an 88-year-old patient who had complained of vomiting and stomach pains, the General Medical Council was told.

Dr Benjamin did not notice that the woman had a stoma bag and diagnosed her as suffering from gastroenteritis.

He indicated acceptance of some charges against him in letters to the GMC.

The hearing continues.
