I WOULD like to give some advice to your readers who are about to or recently had plumbing and heating work carried out on their properties, to make sure that they engage a competent person or company.

While I can only speak on behalf of members of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, please make sure that the installation complies with regulation Part L and all manufacturers’ instructions.

If these criteria are met, then they should have a trouble-free installation and the installer should be proud of his work.

The bottom line is to make sure that the Benchmark book and and any manufacturers’ instructions are filled in and signed by a competent person, together with his relevent identity number, and kept in a safe place.

Failure to do this will invalidate any guarantee and will result in a costly rectification bill being borne by the customer, should any fault occur during warranty David Wright Chairman CIPHE Blenheim Way Horspath Oxford
