Police are appealing for witnesses after a breakdown recovery worker was seriously injured in a collision on an unclassified road in Hook Norton.

A 47-year-old man from Buckingham, who works for the AA, suffered serious chest injuries in the collision, which happened in Wychwood Road, near Lodge Farm, at 5.19pm yesterday.

Police said the AA employee was standing by his work vehicle, a Renault van, when his vehicle was hit by a green Daewoo Matiz, resulting in him suffering serious injuries. He was taken to the Horton General Hospital in Banbury for treatment, where he remains.

The driver of the Matiz, a 17-year-old girl from the Chipping Norton area, suffered shock but did not require hospital treatment.

Sgt Peter Jell, of the Roads Policing Unit at Howes Lane, Bicester, said: “At the time of the collision the road was covered with snow and ice which made driving conditions very difficult.

“The circumstances of the collision are now being investigated by the roads policing department.”
