TWO men were sentenced for an attack on a mother and her teenage son at an Oxford car boot sale.

Kyron McFarlane and Kane Smith assaulted the two stallholders at the event in the car park of the Kassam Stadium on July 4 last year. Both men were sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.

McFarlane, 21, of Emperor Gardens, Greater Leys, admitted two racially aggravated assaults and a racially aggravated public-order offence against a member of the victims’ family on August 15.

He was jailed for a year.

Kane Smith, 18, of Dunnock Way, Greater Leys, admitted two common assaults.

He was acquitted by jurors at a trial of any racist element. He was given a two-year supervision order with 80 hours’ unpaid work.

He was banned from car boot sales at the Kassam Stadium and was ordered to pay £50 costs.
