COLOURFUL performers entertained thousands of shoppers to launch the city’s annual dance festival.

Dance groups transformed Cornmarket Street, Bonn Square and Broad Street on Saturday lunchtime to mark the start of Dancin’ Oxford.

The event, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary and runs for the next month, will see a dance events taking place at venues across the city.

On Saturday afternoon, the Oxford Youth Dance Company, Expression Dance, Messy Jam and Biserk Dance company each performed a set to the crowds.

Dancin’ Oxford organiser Claire Thompson said: “The performers all did a fantastic job and really brought the city centre to life. The crowds were huge and really enthusiastic, with a lot of people braving the cold weather to watch all the acts.

“We are delighted with how everything went.”
