I DO not think that there is such a thing as a ‘best bus driver award’ but, if there was, then Oxford bus driver, Richard Wigg should win this hands down, as this gentleman goes way and above the call of duty.

We visited Oxford last Wednesday and took the bus into Oxford city centre from the Redbridge Park and Ride. This bus was the number 300 and when returning to our car we made the mistake of thinking that all buses of this number would return to Redbridge.

The bus that we boarded was driven by Mr Wigg, who was on his last run of the day and our mistake was only realised when the bus was nearly back at the depot.

At this point it might have been expected that the driver would have turfed us off the bus and left us to find our way back, but not Mr Wigg. Instead he asked us to wait outside the bus depot and then made sure that we got back to Redbridge by giving us a lift in his own car.

Thank you Richard. Oxford is a very lucky city if all its bus drivers are as friendly and helpful as you.
