GIANT puppets, alien dancers and robot visitors were part of a special fringe festival at Windmill Primary School, Headington.

The school put on an afternoon of song, dance and creativity after artists created the creatures with pupils during an art week project.

Headteacher Lynn Knapp said: “A series of performances ended up with a big parade of all the children who had performed, which was wonderful.”

During the week, artists also helped children create ‘stomp’ trolleys, designed to make different noises out of household junk.

Pupils from Year Six ran stalls on Friday, offering everything from games, drinks and calendars, to the chance to throw a water balloon at pictures of celebrities.

Their efforts raised £600 towards their end of term trip.

Maddie Gordon, 11, said: “I thought it was a great success and went really well.

“I enjoyed making the puppets. It took a lot of time but it was worth it.”

Catherine Garden, 10, said: “It was great fun and a wonderful afternoon.”
