About 2,000 homes and businesses in Oxford were hit by a power cut this morning.
Properties in The Towing Path, Weirs Orchard and around Donnington Bridge lost power at 9.40am, and drivers on the A34 HInksey Hill Interchange faced long delays after traffic lights failed.
Electricity was restored to 1,700 properties within the first hour, but 300 are still without power.
A spokesman for Southern Electric said the fault was caused by an overhead wire being brought down.
