OXFAM will have to wait another year for the chance to land a six-figure cash windfall after tennis star Roger Federer’s shock exit from Wimbledon today.
The late Martin Newlife, of Tackley, bet £1,520 on Federer to win the men’s singles title at least seven times by 2020 at 66-1.
Mr Newlife left the betting slip and his £319,000 estate to Oxfam on his death, aged 69, in 2009.
The charity would net £101,840 if the Swiss player wins the tournament in London one more time.
However, the six-times champion lost in five sets to France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga this afternoon.
