LECTURERS at an Oxford college joined thousands of teachers on the picket line today to protest against the Government’s plan to increase their pension contribution.
Members of the University and College Union joined colleagues from the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) in the national walkout.
JobCentre staff from the Public and Commercial Services Union were also on strike in Oxford and there was a picket line outside the Ministry of Defence supply depot in Arncott, near Bicester.
Teaching staff also gathered in Bonn Square in Oxford on the day of action.
