THE right to protest should always be upheld. But as with many rights, those exercising them must show a degree of responsibility.

In the case of Blackbird Leys Park a tiny number of campaigners seem hell bent on disrupting the multi-million-pound plans for a new swimming pool.

This will only result in hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of wasted taxpayers’ money and lengthy delays to what should be a much-welcomed scheme.

It almost inevitably will not save the already crumbling Temple Cowley Pools.

Many people in Oxford want to see Blackbird Leys Pool built.

Oxford deserves to see a world-class facility opened in what will be a year of sporting legacies.

To disrupt such ambitious plans to simply make a short-sighted point is utterly unacceptable.
