On September 3, our bus service for north east Oxon and south Northamptonshire, which we were all pleased with in the Bicester to Brackley area, ceased and Stagecoach No 8 service took over, changing times and altering routes.

We were faced with a driver who never agreed with everyday simple pleasantries.

On the morning of November 4, I boarded as usual at Hethe and the aforesaid individual was at the wheel. Our next stop was Cottisford, half-a-mile further on. It has an official bus stop and bench on the right-hand side, approved by the police and county council.

The usual passengers are three ladies in their 80s, the oldest being 89. I was the only passenger at the time. As we approached, it was obvious the driver had no intention of stopping, until one lady took her life into her own hands to walk out into the road to stop him.

On entering the bus, the driver had the audacity to tell them all off, adding that if they were there again he would not stop.

For the past 10 years the bus always stopped there, allowing the ladies to walk across to the non bus stop side of the road to board.

On my return from Brackley and having discussed the matter with the ladies in question, I went to a great deal of trouble to contact Stagecoach with an official complaint on behalf of the ladies.

I was told I would have a reply within five working days, I have had no such reply, having now waited more than two weeks.

The rude driver is still at the wheel, so I can only conclude that Stagecoach management doesn’t care.
