NO puzzle is too big for jigsaw-loving grandma Rosie Mulvany, who has just to completed the world’s biggest puzzle.

The retired factory worker from Bicester spent more than 2,000 hours pouring over the jigsaw before putting the final 32,000th piece in place on November 25.

Mrs Mulvany dedicated up to eight hours a day for 10 months on the Double Retrospect puzzle.

She’s no stranger to over-sized puzzles, having previously completed a 24,000- piece jigsaw at her home in Redwing Close.

Mrs Mulvany, who becomes the 15th person in the UK to complete the new release from Bicester-based firm Ravensburger, told the Oxford Mail: “I like the biggies because they take longer and it’s more challenging.

“Sometimes you enjoy knowing that you’ve done a certain bit when you didn’t think you could ever do it.”

The 65-year-old grandmother of nine and her husband Colom, a retired London Underground driver, stumped up £198 for the puzzle.

“It is a very, very difficult puzzle,” she explained.

“It’s the colour, you see. You’ve got these what you could call gingerbread men which are just one colour. You get the pieces and you don’t know what section they will go in.

“The only time Colom helps is when I can’t find the pieces because you get a blank day sometimes and then he’ll say to me ‘sit down and leave it for a day’.

“Sometimes he even takes me out for the day because I can’t leave it alone.

“You close your eyes at night and it’s still puzzles.”

Her husband Colom, 55, is completely supportive of his wife’s hobby, despite the time it takes.

He said: “She just jumped up and down when she did it.

“It’s 18ft by 7ft and even our garage isn’t big enough for it to fit in. We’ve got to lay it out in the garden.

“We have heard that a couple of other people in the world have done it – but we’ve had no confirmation about that from the official UK puzzle club.”

Benn Bramwell, from Ravensburger, said: “For anyone to complete this puzzle is a huge achievement.

“Rosemary was the first person in the UK to purchase the puzzle, and she has been puzzling away for months.

“Ravensburger would like to express our congratulations to Rosemary and we hope she enjoyed puzzling to the last piece.”
