THANK you for your article on mental health in Oxfordshire (Oxford Mail, December 13). I think anything that helps to normalise and reduce stigma around mental health issues is great.
I did, however, think it was a real shame that you did not include information for your readers on how to access the services that you listed and did not refer to TalkingSpace.
This is the psychological therapies service for Oxfordshire which is working with some of the 35,000 people experiencing anxiety and depression as mentioned in your article, along with others who are experiencing panic, phobias, OCD or PTSD.
The service provides Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for these common disorders, which has a good evidence base of its effectiveness at treating such issues.
Patients are able to self refer by calling us on 01865 325777, by visiting our website at talkingspaceoxfordshire.org or by seeing their GP for more information. They can also access support at various levels, including workshops, groups, support to use self-help materials and therapy sessions.
