CAMPAIGNERS who want to save Temple Cowley have presented a new petition to Oxford City councillors asking them to reconsider the decision to close it.
In July the council agreed to shut Temple Cowley Pools and Blackbird Leys Swimming Pool to build a new 25m pool in Blackbird Leys.
A petition signed by more than 1,500 people was presented to Lord Mayor Elise Benjamin yesterday before Save Temple Cowley Pools campaigner Nigel Gibson addressed a full meeting of the council on the issue.
Mr Gibson said: “The decision was made using information which we have continually pointed out is a combination of misleading, inaccurate, incomplete and untrue.
“The council has refused to consult properly, or listen to the many minority groups that are affected, such as schools, the Muslim community and older people who need to exercise to maintain their health.”
The campaign group is planning to take the council to judicial review, which would see the matter decided in the High Court.
