Community projects across West Oxfordshire have been handed more than £117,000 in district council grants.
The largest – £50,000 – has gone to South Leigh Parish Council to extend the Victorian village hall and upgrade kitchen and disabled facilities.
Chipping Norton Lido received £11,250 to revamp its changing rooms and Wootton Parish Council received £7,500 to replace the village hall’s roof.
Langford Parish Council and Standlake Parish Council won grants of £9,727 and £8,000 respectively, to install children’s play areas in the villages, while Stonesfield Parish Council received £1,700 for a youth shelter in the village playing field.
Ramsden Tennis Court Committee and The Bartons Victory War Memorial Hall Fund received £2,835 and £18,600, respectively, to resurface and revamp tennis courts.
West Oxfordshire District Council agreed to hand out the cash at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Richard Langridge, cabinet member for local economy and communities, said: “I am delighted the council can support these fantastic causes, even in difficult times.
“Our grants have the effect of levering in £571,000 worth of funding into the district, which is a staggering amount.”
The council hands out £200,000 worth of community grants each year.
