MAPS having been a lifelong passion of mine, as is immediately apparent to anyone entering my flat. I wonder, from the purely cartographical point of view, how long it would take people to accustom themselves to a rather strange, reduced UK, consisting mainly of the southern two-thirds of the largest island and the north-eastern sixth of the other principal one.
