A MUSIC technology firm has launched a recruitment drive after one of its products was nominated as an example of British manufacturing at its best.

Solid State Logic, which produces consoles for recording studios, is looking to add to its 120-strong workforce at Begbroke with vacancies in engineering, research and development and product support.

The company, owned by recording artist Peter Gabriel, was visited by Oxford West and Abingdon MP Nicola Blackwood after she nominated its AWS 948 mixing console for the Made by Britain project, organised by the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group.

All 650 MPs have been asked to find a product that is manufactured in their constituency, with the aim of building up a comprehensive picture of modern British industry.

Ms Blackwood said: “It’s great to see a company doing so well internationally in the music and broadcast industries – and recruiting at a time when unemployment is rising.

“After today I understand a bit more about the technology that allows producers and engineers to record and mix audio, and see why Solid State Logic are considered leaders in the industry.”

Antony David, managing director of Solid State Logic, said: “We have a strong reputation for technological innovation and customer service and have diversified our product range over recent years to appeal to wider markets.

“All of this adds up to increased demand, which is why we are on a recruitment drive. We are looking for five new members of staff.”

Solid State Logic was founded in 1969 in Stonesfield by the late Colin Sanders. He invented the world’s first analogue mixing console with an integrated computer in 1970.

The company now has offices in Los Angeles, Milan, New York, Paris and Tokyo and employs 160 staff.
