A TEENAGER who died after being hit by a train had been interviewed by police earlier the same day about a burglary, an inquest heard.

Oxford Coroner’s Court was told that Jordan Quinn, 19, of Warwick Road, Banbury, died from multiple injuries after being hit by a freight train at Little Bourton, near Banbury, on March 18 last year.

Until about an hour before he died, he and three others were being interviewed by police at Banbury police station on suspicion of theft of a motorcycle in a garage burglary.

Police were called to the railway line shortly before 7.45pm. Train driver Jonathan Ascher told the inquest he saw someone standing on the track.

Mick Meeks, who conducted an investigation on behalf of the professional standards department of Thames Valley Police, said CCTV footage from the police station showed Mr Quinn was quite relaxed in the interview.

He was released on police bail at about 6.20pm after eight hours there.

Coroner Nicholas Gardiner yesterday recorded a verdict that he took his own life.
