YOUR article (Oxford Mail, January 14) wrongly suggested that there were plans to close the booking office at Haddenham & Thame Parkway station.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Haddenham & Thame Parkway has a bright future, with a 47 per cent growth in passenger journeys since 2006.
In fact, it’s so important to us we are about to spend a six-figure sum expanding the booking office, not closing it. Moreover, we are planning to build two new staffed stations in Oxfordshire as part of our plans to provide a direct link from Oxford to London Marylebone via Bicester.
This includes a new Bicester Town station and Water Eaton Parkway station on the outskirts of Oxford. We regard welcoming stations and value for money tickets as essential to Rail travel, and booking offices are part of both.
