DETECTIVES have released images of two suspected getaway cars used by bank raiders, as a £25,000 reward for information was announced.

The CCTV images taken from Banbury Road show a black hatchback and a silver Vauxhall Zafira which police believe were used by the gang as they sped from Lloyds TSB on Thursday, January 19.

At about 7.30am, two masked men forced their way into the bank and demanded the manager open the safe, slapping him, before loading a large undisclosed amount of cash into a bag which contained a knife.

They then locked the 51-year-old in the safe and made off in the cars.

Now detectives are trying to piece together the movements of the three men, two masked raiders and a driver, after they left the bank in the direction of the city centre.

Det Insp Simon Morton said: “We are still appealing for witnesses, some have come forward already.

“The vehicles haven’t been recovered. The number plates used may have been false.

“We are exploring the possibility that the offenders are from outside Oxford.”

Lloyds is offering up to £25,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the criminals.

Anyone with information should call Oxford CID on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
