A MAN was fighting for his life after being stabbed multiple times in East Oxford.

The victim was discovered with wounds in his stomach and on an arm by friends in Temple Street, although last night detectives were still trying to piece together exactly when and where he had been attacked.

The 22-year-old, from Oxford, was stabbed between 1am and 1.30am on Sunday.

He was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for surgery.

Police were yesterday viewing CCTV footage and going door-to-door to build up a picture of his movements before the attack.

They believe there may have been an altercation in the St Clement’s area before the victim made his way on foot to Temple Street, where another a second incident may have taken place.

They are appealing for anyone who saw the man – described as a 6ft, black and wearing a dark blue, grey and white cardigan – in the area to contact them.

Dc Craig Burchall said: “Between 1am and 1.30am, a male received serious injury thought to be from a knife.

“The victim’s condition is still critical and we are appealing for witnesses.”

It is the second A 71-year-old Temple Street resident said: “It is very disturbing when it comes to your doorstep.

“You hear about stabbings all the time but when it becomes your own street it is very different. It is suddenly a part of your life. I have lived here 25 years and I have never had any problems. This area has always seemed quite safe.”

Hallema Saghir, 24, of Temple Street, said: “It is usually a quiet area and I have never noticed anything disturbing like this before.”

A 32-year-old Temple Street residents said: “It is scary that it has happened outside our house.

“There are quite a few families living around here.”

John Shaw, 31, of Temple Street, said: “It is very bad but I do not think it changes my opinion of the area.

“Temple Street is probably one of the nicer side roads in the area, as a rule of thumb. Hopefully this is just a one off.”
