I HAVE just heard that the Octabus dial-a-ride bus, which takes my 97-year-old mother out once a week, will cease to operate from next month (yesterday’s Oxford Mail).
The excellent and caring driver, who has looked after her so well, will be made redundant.
For many elderly and disabled people in the city the dial-a-ride bus is a lifeline.
It enables them to maintain some degree of independence, which is vital for both mental and physical health.
A council official from Oxfordshire County Council says we all need to share some part of the pain.
It would seem, however, that if you are in any way vulnerable then your share of the pain will be greater than others.
