Every European country should be doing more to help the people of Greece (Monday’s Oxford Mail).

Huge cuts in jobs, wages and pensions are tearing Greek society apart.

The medicine offered by the European Union is likely to kill the patient, not bring Greece back to health. The country needs grants, new investment and more tourism, not more loans.

The birthplace of democracy belongs at the heart of Europe. If Greece leaves the Euro, the mindless markets will move on to attack the next country until nothing is left.

The European Union is all about solidarity and supporting each other in times of trouble. Who knows when it will be Britain’s turn for trouble?

We should stand shoulder to shoulder with the Greek people. An attack on one is an attack on all.
