I did find Mr White (of the Oxford Humanists) very amusing, with his brand of vox pop philosophy (Monday’s Oxford Mail ViewPoints).

I once worked for a man whose stock riposte to anyone who dissented from his opinion was “90 per cent of people and all thinking men agree with me”. Well, that clinches that then.

I don’t have the inclination to try to educate Mr White but would just emphasise the following from his (not very thoughtful) letter: l “The latest opinion poll”. By whom?

l “Who opted to identify themselves as Christian”. So not necessarily believers?

l “UK Christians”. Defined as above, ie actually equates to the British “man in the street”.

The Richard Dawkins’ school and method of science is not one that inspires any confidence in its conclusions, being devoid of any real evidence for the things it claims.

It is more the expression of a devout faith position – the faith of atheism/scientism.

I would be grateful if you would allow me to invite all thoughtful Oxford Mail readers to have a talk with a Bible-believing Christian about what he/she really thinks and why.
