A MUM-of-three from Botley was told yesterday she will be extradited to the United States, accused of kidnapping her own children.

The High Court ruled that Eileen Clark would face charges of “international parental kidnapping” in the US after the former aerobics trainer and model fled to Oxford with her children after her divorce in America in December 1998.

The 54-year-old from West Way has been fighting extradition since being arrested at home in July 2010.

But yesterday two judges upheld the extradition decision of Westminster magistrates.

Last night, she told the Oxford Mail the verdict has been “very upsetting”.

She said: “I’m now looking at what we will do next.”

Mrs Clark moved to Britain with her children Chandler, Hayden and Rebekah in December 1998.

They are now in their late teens and early 20s.

The court heard her first husband, John Clark, started legal proceedings against her after she fled the US following an unhappy marriage.

He continued to pursue his case against her through the US courts, leading to her eventually being indicted by a grand jury with the kidnapping charge.

Following her arrest in 2010, Westminster magistrates ruled in March last year that extradition should go ahead.

She appealed, but that was yesterday quashed by Lord Justice Stanley Burnton and Mr Justice Underhill.

Mr Justice Underhill said: “We accept there will be hardship for the appellant if she is returned to the US to stand trial, but we do not believe that hardship can properly be characterised as oppressive.”

Mrs Clark was not in court to hear the verdict because of medical problems.

But her ex-husband Ron Woolsey, whom she married after her divorce from Mr Clark, said outside: “It is my understanding and belief that any action she has taken was simply to protect her children.

“That has been her mitigation all along.”

Neighbours in Oxford said they were shocked to hear the news.

One man, who did not wish to be named, said: “You wouldn’t think they would do this now the kids are all grown up.

“It’s very strange.”

Another added: “I can’t believe this has happened on our road. It’s a very sad story.”

Mrs Clark’s lawyers now have 14 days in which to consider taking the case to the Supreme Court.
