Donations continued to soar yesterday in memory of a London Marathon competitor who was running for a Banbury charity. Some £677,444 had been pledged by more than 60,000 people to honour Claire Squires, 30, from Leicestershire as the Oxford Mail went to press last night.
She had raised £400 for the Banbury and District Samaritans before the marathon on Sunday, when she collapsed on the final stretch and later died.
