Sir – In response to the article Headington residents oppose international academy plan (April 26). There is a considerable level of mis-information regards our school and a number of people insist on calling us a language school.

I would like to clarify that we are not a ‘language school’, but a private secondary school offering a number of academic courses, including an A Level programme and an International Baccalaureate programme — there is a distinct difference.

Since taking occupation of Cotuit Hall, EF Academy, from day one, has communicated with neighbours through an EF Academy Community Newsletter and we organised two separate public consultation events where we invited neighbours to view and comment upon our proposed plans for Cotuit Hall.

It is unfair to say that ‘residents’ are opposed to our plans, as we have feedback from the consultation events which also show significant support for our development.

With a struggling economy, it is worth pointing out that our proposed plans will inject some £12m ‘new’ cash in operational costs per annum into the local economy.
