A 38-YEAR-OLD Oxford-based art dealer appeared in court yesterday charged with dangerous driving after his car collided with two workmen in Iffley Road.

Adrian Greenwood appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court accused of driving dangerously in Iffley Road on February 14.

Dressed smartly in a suit and tie, Greenwood, of Iffley Road, indicated no plea at the short hearing and his defending solicitor Kirsty Leggott offered no representations on his behalf.

Prosecutor Ann Sawyer-Brandish told the court that Greenwood was accused of hitting two council contractors, Mr Axtell and Mr Washington, with his grey Vauxhall Vectra as they worked to paint lines for a cycle lane replacing parking bays in Iffley Road.

Chairman of the bench John Howson said the matter was too serious to be dealt with in a magistrates’ court.

He was bailed to next appear before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on June 27 where a date will be set for his case to be heard at Oxford Crown Court.
