MARTIN Roberts’s point (Viewpoints, June 13) about what would happen if teachers ‘forgot’ a pupil or two on a school outing is well-made.

It might also be worth recalling how many families in Oxford, and beyond, are subsisting in relative poverty and couldn’t in a month of Sundays contemplate a Sunday pub lunch, or a Saturday pub lunch for that matter. Also, recent reports have shown an increasing number of children are arriving at school hungry because of limited resources at home.

Still, it must be hoped that the Camerons at the very least enjoy their regular culinary outings.
