I ECHO the words of Barbara Naylor as regards the request for traffic lights incorporating a pedestrian crossing at the junction of the A40 and Collingwood Road. This is supported by the parish council, the local city councillors and Andrew Smith MP.

The attitude and comments from Cllr Rodney Rose are beyond belief. This man clearly does not give a damn about the opinions of the 1,000-plus people who have signed a petition in support of the lights.

Perhaps he should leave the leafy suburbs of the area he lives in and represents, and visit the site himself and engage in sensible argument with those who live in the area.

I urge all those who care about the safety of the young mothers and their children and all other people who need to cross the A40 at this point to attend a public meeting on July 17, which Mr Rose has agreed to attend, and have your say.
