IN Thursday’s Big Issue, the Minister for Disabled, Maria Miller stated that the replacement for the DLA (Disability Living Allowance) will include a face-to-face assessment with a health professional.
I hope by that she means the person’s GP and not a body like Atos Health Care that have a multi-million pound contract with this Government and whose face-to-face medical assessment decisions are over-turned on appeal in 90 per cent of cases – yes nine out of every 10 appeals are upheld.
The question has to be asked – why is the Government wasting all this money when the medical experts (GPs) are already in place and are the same people they want to run our hospitals?
