THEATRE company The Pantaloons is coming to the county as part of a nationwide tour of its open-air production of Grimm Fairy Tales.

The July 4 show, at Waterperry Gardens, near Wheatley, is a brand new adaptation of some of the best loved children’s stories.

The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, collected and published German folk tales in the first half of the 19th century and are responsible for tales including Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

Each fairy tale will be told in a different style using puppetry, poetry, parody, music, magic and masks.

With a cast of just five actors playing more than 100 parts audiences can expect plenty of fast-changes, cross-dressing, comedy-wigs and silly walks.

Lucy Mellors plays Little Red Riding Hood among more than 20 parts, and said the show was “tremendous fun.”

Producer Mark Hayward added: “We try to include something for everyone.”

Tickets are available on 01844 337264.
