Were the poor sad folk of Didcot disinclined to get colourful? Were they, or are they, depressed, dreary and dismal?
No, it was not just the weather. Celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee were practically non-existent.
Where were the great street parties of yesteryear for the young and the elderly?
No need for the council to get involved, no huge expenses, just good neighbourliness and people caring and sharing.
One need not be a royalist to put out a flag. It was an opportunity to be glad for a special happy occasion.
Did I put out a flag? Yes, of course I did.
I cannot write ‘disgusted, Tunbridge Wells’ I will sign – ‘disappointed, Didcot’.
HEATHER BUTLER, Didcot
