PLANS to build 70 homes in Hook Norton, which have attracted more than 300 objections, are being recommended for approval at a meeting tonight.
Cherwell District Council planning officers say councillors should allow developer Taylor Wimpey to build the homes on a field north of The Bourne.
The plan led to a storm of protest from villagers, with 316 comments opposing the idea, compared to seven in support.
But the report says the village could take up to 189 more homes and the scheme would help meet Government housing targets for the district.
Hook Norton parish council chairman David Shepley-Cuthbert said: “The council has ridden roughshod over us to meet targets. They are not looking after the people they should be.”
The district council’s planning committee meets at Bodicote House, near Banbury, at 4pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
